Entry-level firefighter preparation
One place to prepare for your next hiring step.
Start with the department’s current instructions. Build your application, learn the testing process and practice explaining what you bring as a first-time applicant.
No firefighting, academy, military or paid work experience is assumed. School, volunteering, sports, group projects and everyday responsibilities are valid interview examples. Independent study counts; station access and professional contacts are optional.
Choose the stage in front of you.
- Research departments — check eligibility, application dates and credential timing against official sources.
- Prepare your documents — draft from your own facts, check the instructions and save explicitly to your account.
- Identify your written test — distinguish NTN, PST and department examinations before studying.
- Plan physical preparation — confirm CPAT or the department’s exact test, organize qualified practice and track your program.
- Practice the oral board — explain your motivation, teamwork, accountability and readiness to learn.
- Check the remaining steps — organize truthful records, follow background and conditional-assessment instructions, and confirm test-day logistics.
Know what is saved and what uses your allowance.
Browse guides, search departments, edit documents and enter PT requirements without an AI request. Personalized AI assistance uses the existing shared preparation allowance in an active paid package. Your account shows its remaining balance.
Documents and PT programs use explicit private account saving. The research checklist and practice roadmap save separately in this browser; they do not sync across devices. One current PT program is stored per account, so review it before replacing an existing program.
