Illustrative feedback · not a candidate assessment
See how a stronger answer stays your own.
This fictional example demonstrates the style of feedback. It is not an actual department question, a generated report or a predicted hiring result.
Practice prompt
Describe a time you received feedback during school, volunteering, sports or everyday life. What did you do, and what did you learn?
Fictional applicant response
During a group presentation, a teammate said I was changing the slides too late. I listened, agreed to finish my section the day before our rehearsal, and asked the group to review it. We had time to practice together. I learned that finishing my part is not enough if the timing makes other people’s work harder.
Example coaching feedback
- What works: You identify the feedback, your own action and a specific lesson. An ordinary school example gives the panel useful evidence.
- What to develop: Explain briefly how you responded in the moment and whether you used the lesson again. Add those details only if they are true.
- Next practice: Answer again in your own words. Keep the situation short and spend most of the answer on your actions, outcome and learning.
No technical firefighting experience is needed to answer this prompt. Actual practice reports assess the answer you give; this illustration has no numerical score.
